The intention of the Trade Honours Program is to provide pathways for qualified tradespeople seeking to further their study within their chosen trade area.

There is currently no other course which provides a pathway for all tradespeople to achieve higher level skills which can still relate directly to their trade area.

The Trade Honours Program is designed to address this gap in education and training and to foster the development of staff and retain them within the enterprise in higher level technical roles, allowing trades people to extend their careers and assist in meeting the needs of an ageing workforce.

The underpinning philosophy of the Trade Honours Program is that students and employers will be able to select skill sets that are directly suited to the business, fostering the development of higher technical skills in staff to fill key roles relevant to the enterprises.

This pilot program is being funded by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR).

Students can progress from the Certificate IV, to the Diploma and then the VGC and finally to University, if desired.
